Last Thursday was the UK TechNet meeting in Cookham. It was a fantastic day with some great presentations. My presentation on the new features in FileMaker Server 10 seemed to go down well and led to some interesting discussions on deployment and backup strategies (I’ll talk more about some of these ideas in a future blog).
The presentations from Ian and Chris on Script Triggers were really informative and it’s always good to see how other developers are using new functionality within the product. One really great tip was to use the function ‘OnLayoutKeystoke’, available through the Layout Setup dialog box, to allow users to navigate through records or portal rows using the arrow keys on the keyboard. For example you can set the left and right arrow keys to move to the previous and next record and the up and down arrows to move up and down through portal rows. This was just one of many such tips – it’s always trying to get to the TechNet days if you can.
You’ll be able to download my slides and demo file from the developers section of our new website when it launches on Wednesday 1st April. As soon as the site is launched I’ll provide download links on here.
So thanks to all the presenters, including the staff from FileMaker, for a great day and I look forward to the next.
Hey Paul,
Thanks again for that info at the meeting. I’m trying to open up the discussion re:the lock out times during backup via here http://fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/202467
I would have linked back to you, but forgot to find your details first, it would be great if you could post your exact spec that you got the 4 minute back up time on just to demonstrate the problem is ‘for real’!
Cheers,
tom
