The start of a blog…

Well I have finally bowed down to peer pressure and started my blog.

I’m not sure if my colleagues felt that my wisdom and knowledge was so great that it should be shared, or more likely that they thought it would be amusing to push me into the world of social networking and online communication and stitch me up with having to write things on a regular basis!

So here I am at the start of my Blog, what will I write about.  I guess I should tell you a little about myself first and maybe the rest will follow.

Who am I?

I’m Paul de Hallé, the Development Director for Linear Blue Ltd.  As a company we specialise in the development of commercial web sites and desktop database management systems.  My personal background is in programming, where I started off in Pascal and Cobol many moons ago.  But not long after finishing college I came across Apple Macintosh computers and in 1987 started working with a small database product called FileMaker Pro.  Over the years I continued working with FileMaker, amongst other tools, and finally ended up starting Linear Blue in 1999, primarily as a FileMaker development house.

My Blog

So with over 20 years experience in database development, in particular in FileMaker, I guess that’s what I will be writing about.  Mostly it will be tips and tricks of the industry as I think of them.  Occasionally it will be about our business and how we work, survive and grow in the 21st century.

For any of you who stumble across this little corner of the internet I hope you find it useful or at least entertaining.
