ESS and Surprised MySQL developers

I had a conference call with a client, one of their biggest customers and the customers’ developers the other day. Both the customer and my client are having new systems written (my client in FileMaker, my client’s customer in MySQL and, i guess, HTML) and they are both keen on integrating stock figures.

The customer and the customers’ developers were under the impression the integration was going to be convoluted, time consuming and expensive. I had other ideas. It took about 10 seconds to set up a system DSN, another 10 seconds to create a layout based on the MySQL table and then a stunned silence from the MySQL developers as I merrily added, deleted and amended records in their database.
