After many years of hard work and success, Linear Blue turned 10 years old in April 2010. To celebrate this landmark, we all headed off to Pennyhill Park Hotel for the weekend.
We met at the hotel on the 1st of May at 2.00 p.m. to kickstart the celebrations. The Directors and their partners took advantage of the ‘Clay Pigeon Shooting’ and enjoyed the new experience.
Shortly after, we all met at the luxury spa to relax. The spa was very impressive, with eight indoor and outdoor swimming pools, including a ballroom swimming pool with underwater music, hot tubs and hydrotherapy alongside Thermal Heaven with its herbal saunas, laconium, tepidarium, ice cave and aromatic schnapps steam room. The Spa was recently voted ‘England’s leading spa resort’ and it was easy to see why! With a soothing and calming atmosphere this was the ultimate retreat to relax in!
We all met for drinks at around half six, overlooking the beautiful grounds. This gave us all the opportunity to meet partners and friends of employees.
At around 8 p.m. everybody sat down in ‘The Library’ to wine and dine. The wine and food was amazing. I had made the right decision to order the ‘Home Cured Gravadlax’, which really was the tastiest salmon I have ever eaten! The strawberry cheesecake was also a real treat!!
Speeches followed dinner, and I have to say this was my favourite part of the evening! Paul de Hallé, our Development Director, rose to the occasion and gave a moving speech! His passion for the company definitely showed, and the long road he, Darren Kayes and Aeon McNulty have taken to get Linear Blue where it is today! Aeon McNulty was the Managing Director before Darren Kayes for five years, and is now a silent partner. Paul thanked Aeon for all his hard work and support with champagne and a lengthy hug! He thanked the whole Linear Blue team for their hard work and commitment with beautiful flowers for the ladies and champagne for the men. Two very special awards were then presented. Rob Basden won ‘Employee of the Year 2010’ and Simon Ward won ‘Haircut of the Year 2010’. I think it’s fair to say that Rob got the better award, which was well deserved as Head of Web Development. Simon’s award was an internal joke, regarding a dramatic haircut he recently endured, which was well overdue!! A special thank-you went out to Paul’s wife – Deborah de Hallé, for all her support and kindness over the past decade.
The celebrations continued outside among the picturous scenery. Everybody was on top form, (some more so than others) and the party went on into the early hours of the morning!
Check out some of our photos from the weekend!
