TechNet Meeting 14th June 2011

For all those UK TechNet members out there, just to let you know I’ll be giving a preview of one of my DevCon talks at the next TechNet meeting, only we’ll be expanding it into more of a workshop – so bring your laptops.

Introduction to ESS & MySQL.

This workshop will be a hands on introduction to FileMaker and SQL Integration, we will be looking at how to setup a basic MySQL environment and then integrate this directly into a FileMaker Pro 11 solution. We will cover areas such as naming conventions that work for both your FileMaker and SQL solutions, how to setup and configure your ODBC drivers, on Mac and Windows, and how to utilise FileMaker Server 11 scripting for automating data transfers.

This workshop is designed for beginner to intermediate users with no previous SQL knowledge required.

You will need to download the following software (but not install it) prior to the TechNet day. All the software is free.

MySQL Community Server
Please download the appropriate version for your laptop: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/

MySQL Workbench – A free tool to view your SQL server
Please download the appropriate version for your laptop: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench/

MySQL Drivers

Windows
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/#downloads

Macintosh (Whilst still free – this will only be a demo version)

If you have the above installer ready to go on your laptop, along with FileMaker Pro 11 Advanced, then that’s all you’ll need.

So if you’re not signed up already – get in touch with FileMaker UK.

Hope to see you there.
